Smart Analysis in Australia and New Zealand

From 22 to 24 July in Adelaide (Australia), Winetech was held, the most important technical-scientific wine conference for the Australian and New Zealand markets.

And DNAPhone was there too.

With great satisfaction we took part in the event together with KauriWine, our new partner for Australia and New Zealand, which presented Smart Analysis to its market on this official occasion.

Also present at the KauriWine stand was Matteo Barozzi, DNAPhone’s product manager, who flew till there to support new colleagues led by David, Mark and Dean.

In addition to having launched our platform with great success during the event, the Kauri team organized a series of technical seminars dedicated to producers, oenologists and lab managers of the most important and renowned New Zealand wineries to promote and let them try Smart Analysis.

The first stop was at the Amisfield Winery, one of the main wineries in the suggestive mountain region of Otago, specialized in the production of Pinot Noir and aromatic white wines.

Then we moved to the Marlborough region, where we were hosted by the award-winning Marisco Vineyards.

Here, in the company’s laboratories, we welcomed many professionals interested in Smart Analysis. A really unexpected number that has pleasantly impressed us and forced us to divide the group to make double presentation.

Further north we visited the Paritua Vineyard estates, at the foot of the Hawke’s Bay hills. We were very impressed by the land: vineyards as far as the eye can see…

Finally we reached Waiheke Island, off Auckland. Here we were guests of the first winery founded on the island: Goldie Estate. We discussed with local producers who used Smart Analysis and we tasted Italian wines with Heinrich Storm, the young and enterprising owner of the winery.

Thanks to these two intense weeks we have investigated many aspects of the wine market of the new continent, speaking with over 150 professionals, met both during the New Zealand tour and the Adelaide fair.

We received a very positive feedback, above all we were pleased to confirm their interest in the latest technological innovations.
Opinion also confirmed by Mark McGill, technical director of Kauriwine: “Australia and New Zealand are new world producers and we typically innovate quicker than the rest of the world (when it comes to wine) I think Smart Analysis will have good uptake. The feedback that we received from you wineries that you have already used Smart analysis is great, winemakers like you do small footprints and one device that does everything, and the fact that smart analysis can pretty much eliminate the need for laboratory glassware and apparatus.

Thanks to all the KauriWine team: David Hunt, Mark McGill, Naomi Martin-Blanch, Dean Wishart, Diane Stratton and Andrew Hunt.
